Editing #1

After reviewing the film (specifically right after we were done shooting) we've noticed that the score of the opening scenes would play a major role in molding our video to be suspenseful and a way to emit an environment much better. Background music was added to the film and used all throughout as it was key to deliver a suspenseful tone. The background music wasn't just one on replay, we used a variety of different sounds at different times of the film such as the intro, climax, and the resolution. Will came up with the idea to use an eerie piano sound track as he believed it'll cause a calming yet disturbing tension as if one is waiting for something to occur. A violent violin was chosen as the sound to be played when our protagonist would try solving the puzzle but failing to do so. Not only do I think the music help shaped our opening scene into what it is but also allow for the video to be entertaining overall. Another element we added for the scenes were captions to help the viewers with the dialogue going on through the film. The difference between this and the music is that its purpose was more so to deal with an issue we faced during editing. The issue was that the villains were wearing masks which made it somewhat difficult to clearly understand what's going on. We were fine with implementing captions when it was first thought of because of films like "John Wick" which also used captions. Transitioning wasn't a big feature we used for our film as the only one present during the whole video was at the start. Finally, to keep a theme going we made the titlecard of our film relate to the Wordle game by implementing the color of the "5 letters" title the colors used if someone gets a letter correct, is on track, or did not use the right letter.
